2026 South Carolina Voting Checklist + Deadlines

  1. Find out if you are registered to vote. Check your South Carolina voter status here.

  2. Register to vote in South Carolina if you need to by Sunday, October 4, 2026 through mail. Update your existing registration if any of your information has changed. 

  3. Make sure you have your ID/Voter ID with you. 

  4. The general election date is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Put this date on your calendar.

  5. You can also vote early from Monday, October 19, 2026 to Saturday October 31, 2026.  Put these dates on your calendar. 

  6. Request a South Carolina absentee ballot if you want to vote-by-mail.

    • Deadline: Friday, October 23, 2026 5:00PM

  7. Return your absentee ballot by:

    • Deadline: Tuesday, November 3, 2026

  9. Be sure to take note of any accessibility challenges you might face. South Carolina offers curbside voting.

  10. If you need some instructions or want a demonstration of your district’s voting system or accessible equipment, contact your Supervisor of Elections in your county. 

  11. Check out what a sample ballot looks like. If you did not receive one in the mail, most Supervisors of Elections have them posted on their websites.

  12. Arrange any transportation help you might need. Do this in advance, not on the day you need a ride.
